Insignificance of this world
Greed: The Shaitaan’s tool
Shaitaan creates illusions of fear, of poverty and starvation for a person and makes him to behave stingily in case of spending in the path of good, and making him into a hoarder and a miser. But at the same time Shaitaan urges for spending on the causes of evil and immorality. Therefore a person needs to be cautious and mindful of satanic whispering and illusions.
﴿الشَّيْطَانُ يَعِدُكُمُ الْفَقْرَ وَيَأْمُرُكُم بِالْفَحْشَاءِ﴾
{Shaitaan (Satan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahshaa’ (evil deeds, sins etc.)…} [Surah al-Baqarah (2): 268]

Narrated `Abdullaah bin Mas`ood رضي الله عنه that the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ❝Indeed the Shaitaan has an effect on the son of Aadam, and the Angel also has an effect. As for the Shaitaan, it is by threatening evil repercussions and rejecting the Truth. As for the effect of the angel, it is by his promise of a good end and believing in the Truth. Whoever finds that then let him know that it is from Allaah, and let him praise Allaah for it (by saying: الحمد لله). Whoever finds the other then let him seek refuge with Allaah from the Shaitaan (the outcast) (by saying: أعوذ بالله من الشيطان الرجيم).❞ Then he صلى الله عليه وسلم recited: {Shaitaan threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahshaa’} [Sunan al-Tirmidhee (2988). Initially Shaikh al-Albaanee graded this chain as “Dha`eef”. He later retracted and graded it “Saheeh” due to supporting chains in al-Naseehah (1/108/34). Shaikh Ahmad Shaakir also graded its various chains as “Saheeh” in his checking of Tafseer al-Tabaree (5/571-575)]
